We have instituted a Karma system in Eternal Gates. Now, know right of the bat that this system is not meant to show who's doing better than others it is simply a system to maintain a Moral level. This Morality number will have a wide ranged of different effects throughout the realm of Ira.
The way you earn positive or negative Karma is based on the way to conduct yourself in the game.
For example if you chose to do a quest where you save a damsel in distress you would gain some serious positive Karma points.
Now on the flip side if you were to raid, loot and pillage/burninate the countryside you would get negative points.
The only thing these points do is help show other players what side you're more on. Also the higher the karma number, be it positive or negative, the more well known you shall be throughout the world.
The higher your Karma the better you're known throughout the world.
Keep in mind the type of character you are and the positive or negative effects your reputation would have on the city your in. If we see you abusing this power, we will take it away.
This can help you in a number of different ways.
A prime example is going to different towns throughout the world. While there is no specific number there is a general idea in the admins minds for bonus to buying or selling goods, degrees of reception you earn.
This of course is based on which town you go to.
For example:
Say you are a noble and righteous paldine who travels the world crushing the forces of evil and upholding the law all around. You would not be very welcome in a city like city of Durmstaldt. Shop keeps would be less likely to want to sell to you, guards would harass you. People may try to knife you in an alley and so on and so forth.
The flip is the same for if you're an sick evil twisted man who goes to a lawful city.
Now, while you are able to, as a player, smite or praise an individual, and we encourage your participation, just remember that at the end of the day it comes down to what the Admins choose to set it at. We can adjust it at any time.
If you feel you have been unjustly given negative or positive points feel free to appeal the points but end of the day our decision. We are of course more than happy to provide reasons.
Finally if any of the Admins see any one person abusing the point system you will be warned. And trust me, we can see who's giving points when and what for. But on a more pleasant note we hope you enjoy the system and of course any constructive feedback would be appreciated as this is a new system we've not really used before.
