Common (Wood) Elves
Shortly after the Great War, when angels and demons were banished from Ira, the fairies began to evolve. The fairies, or fair folk became larger, with thin bodies, sharp features and pointed ears. It was not long before these new fairies, calling themselves Elves. The elves split into two factions. Those who felt that they should remain with nature and those who felt the outside world calling for new leadership.
While the more ambitious Elves who began referring to themselves as High Elves went out to start wars with the humans the other elves who became known as common or Wood elves stayed in the forest. Their features are darker, and more wild than their high cousins and will often times be seen in the company of Satyr. While they maintain much of their elven pride, they are much more carefree than their High Elf cousins.
Wood elves, as there name suggests, live in the woods. They are considered to be of less magical blood than High Elves. While they do not focus on nobility of blood, they do often feel that their connection with the forest makes them more sacred than humans and other races. The common elves have few cities, all of which are built in trees and are nowhere near as resplendent as the High Elf cities. They are more accepting of other races but are still quite reclusive. There cities are much more numerous than the High Elves, but also much smaller and would probably be better referred to as settlements. Each tribe has a leader known as Keeper. The task of Keeper is to look out for the tribe as a whole and protect it. They are considered the wisest of the clans and to argue with the keeper is an act of extreme foolishness and arrogance.
