High (moon) Elves
Shortly after the Great War, when angels and demons were banished from Ira, the fairies began to evolve. The fairies, or fair folk became larger, with thin bodies, sharp features and pointed ears. It was not long before these new fairies, calling themselves Elves. The elves split into two factions. Those who felt that they should remain with nature and those who felt the outside world calling for new leadership.
While the more ambitious Elves who began referring to themselves as High Elves went out to start wars with the humans the other elves who became known as common or Wood elves stayed in the forest.
High Elves, with all of their pride, were determined in part by their connection to magic. As such they felt a greater calling for culture, learning, and domination of the world. As their connection to magic strengthened, their skin became more pale and they began likening themselves to the moon and began calling themselves Moon Elves.
As they began their expansion they made enemies with both humans and dwarves. The humans, sick of fighting after having just rejected the angels and demons, extended an olive branch (although their are rumors it was extended via some of the great warriors who were responsible for the sacking of the angelic and demonic forces)
The dwarves were content for the most part to keep fighting, but the humans, having just survived one genocide refused to watch the two races create another and brokered a peace between the two.
High Elves are the elven nobles and tend to be snobbish. They live in grand cities with breath taking elegant structures built in, around or near forests.
The elven capital is a city known as Alvalor(Elven for Brave Heart). The city houses hundreds of Elven clans and has some of the most expensive shops in all of Ira. The city itself is surrounded by a large enchanted wall with a gate big enough for a giant to walk through. The wall itself are ivory, and the gates are gilded with silver engravings. Inside the city you will find many large buildings, some of them with glowing green veins of energy going through them to power the magic warp gates. (To walk across the city would take a full day at least). Many of the buildings are the same ivory color as the walls, but will vary in stature. Shops tends to be smaller, but the smallest houses you will find are at least two stories with enough rooms to house three whole families. The largest buildings are in the back, they are also the most important. As you get closer to the gates the buildings get smaller, allowing for a better view from the High Elven Castle and allowing for archers to be able to shoot over the front structures in case of an invasion. The elven King Aendor rules from here with his trusted circle of Elvish Council in the Castle dubbed Cloud Reach by the humans due to its massive size . The High Elves rarely admit outsiders into their cities. Occasionally ambassadors are allowed in, for the sake of keeping peace between other races, but even they are of a higher status in human society. Common humans could only ever dream of entering the city, common elves are only allowed in during times of war or if they are chiefs and half elves are seen as dirty since very few noble High Elves would so much as touch a human.
There is also a second large High Elf city in Dresdra’s playground. The city of Elessa is a smaller version of Alvalor but built in a similar fashion.
